This is an inspiring example of how you can get into gardening without having ANY yard! Ellen Medalle of Seal Beach in Southern California is the type of person that can make magic happen ANY place. Here is a garden all in pots - mainly low maintenance succulents which need little watering mixed in with herbs and a small tomato plant. Her home is just a few blocks from the beach and gets an ocean breeze by day. She shows me that ANYONE can have a garden even if you have NO space and NO yard!
Ellen picked up all the rocks and the shells from the nearby beach and the decorations from around her house. She got the succulent plants from Walmart Garden Center and the local garden center called Brita's Garden Center and Southland Landscaping in Garden Grove. Ellen a hard core gardening junkie, is the creator of the mailbox garden called the "Garden Sanctuary"- see sign below the water fountain. Watering is minimal only on average once or twice a week. In all she spent about 300. including the planters. The most she spent was 12. on down to 5 - a bargain.
It took about an hour to plant and she only planted it on St. Patricks Day a few weeks ago!
